A massive fire broke out behind Jitendra Hall in the City Center area, causing significant damage. The blaze erupted on the ground floor of Plot JB 14, where the Joy Electric Scooter showroom, New Jharkhand Motor, is located. The fire quickly engulfed the entire showroom, filling the area with thick smoke.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported. However, the financial loss is considerable. The showroom owner, stated that around 18 electric vehicles were completely destroyed in the fire, with only one vehicle, which was in for servicing, being saved. The estimated loss is approximately over ₹20 lakh.
As a precaution, nearby shop owners closed their stores, and residents of the upper floors evacuated. Boys from the adjacent Hostel also rushed out to safety. Upon receiving the information, both the District Fire Department and BSL Fire Department teams arrived at the scene and managed to control the fire. Before the fire brigade arrived, local residents attempted to douse the flames with buckets of water. Hundreds of onlookers gathered at the site, and the Sector 4 police were also present.
