At least 15 labourers got injured after roof of the under construction Jharkhand Judicial Academy building collapsed here on Thursday. Three of them are said to be seriously injured in the incident. They were rushed to Guru Nanak Hospital for treatment.

“The support on which the concrete roof was to be laid for the under-construction Academy building at Harset village in Dhurwa, collapsed on Thursday afternoon injuring about 12-15 labourers working,” said Inspector of Dhurwa police station BN Singh. Condition of three of them is said to be serious, he added.

Under-construction roof of the second floor of the building located on the eastern side of the site collapsed all of a sudden, he said. “The injured have been admitted to Guru Nanak Hospital. A complaint will be lodged after getting statements of the injured persons,” said Singh. He said that it was the result of sheer negligence on the part of the contractor, who did not even care to provide helmets to the lobourers. No precautionary measures have been taken at the construction site, added Singh.
