Scared of moving out alone after the scuffle with three unidentified persons on Sunday, RIMS students are moving in groups to avoid any untoward incident. After Sunday’s incident, few suspicious people were also seen roaming around the premises of Vikas Bharti on Sunday. “We are really concerned regarding our security as the administration is also not doing anything on this regard,” said a student.  “If the situation does not change by tomorrow, we will move out to a safer place,” he added.

“They are now playing pressure tactics, but this time we will fight against the injustice till the end without turning our backs,” said an undergraduate student requesting anonymity. “Such incidents of attack cannot deter us, but as a precautionary measure, we have started moving in small groups to avoid such incidents in future,” he said.

“We are going through a phase of total confusion regarding our future after the incident,” said the student. Following incidents of clash among the students, district administration on Thursday had declared sine-die closure in the campus directing the undergraduate students to vacate their hostel rooms within 24 hours. Students, protesting against the diminishing law and order situation in the campus refused to go home, taking shelter at the premises of ‘Vikas Bharti’ in Bariatu Road. The police, however, have lodged an FIR on Monday regarding the scuffle which took place on Sunday.

“Though, it was a minor incident where a scuffle took place between few people, but we have lodged an FIR in the backdrop of the clash which took place among the students on Thursday,” said office in-charge of Bariatu police station Vijay Kumar. Three unidentified persons have been booked in this regard. Students are waiting for Chief Minister Raghubar Das to come back from Delhi and intervene to ensure safety of their lives.

Chief Minister had ensured a delegation of students that their problems of RIMS campus will be sorted out within two-three days. Meanwhile, Post Graduate Students were allotted hostel rooms on Monday through lottery. “Allotment of hostel rooms were completed today after which the House Surgeon Interns were given their rooms,” said RIMS Director Dr SK Chaudhary.

This time we are making fool-proof arrangement that not a single unauthorised occupancy is left in any of our hostels, added the Director. College administration has already suspended 25 students against whom FIR was registered allegedly for creating disturbances in the college campus. According to the sources in the police department, senior police officials are supervising the case after a representation was given on behalf of the accused persons.
