Principal Judge of Family Court, Daltonganj, Sandeep Srivastava who joined on May 5 this year is one who has a strong conviction and passion to save marriage and family from breaking away.
In conversation with The Pioneer on Saturday, the Principal Judge of Family Court spoke of a case of family disintegration which was saved and the family got reunited.
“Husband and wife are two units who form family and society and if family breaks down the society cannot remain unaffected by this,” says Srivastava while referring to a case where a husband filed a divorce petition. The Principal Judge said the man gave reasons of cruelty and desertion on the part of his wife. Their life was on the rock. A kind of incommunicado existed between them added the Principal Judge.
The man is a small business man while his wife works in the electricity department. The duo have a son. Srivastava said, “This situation is most delicate. Their married life was in great jeopardy. Families of the two had their say in their lives rendering things difficult for them. Hope of their getting reunited was getting dimmer and bleak as the families of the two did all to meddle in their affairs.”
The Judge said the Court officials have been regularly sensitised about handling such a case where break away of a family looks imminent while a reunion a distant proposition.
“Marriage is a sacred institution where besides equality respect for each other and dignity of the individual matters most but it is seen that the wife is treated in poor light and is allowed to suffer indignity for no reason and this sparks family tension and animosity,” said Srivastava.
