Expedite seeding of UID numbers with bank accounts: DDC

RR Srivastava

DDC Ravindra Prasad Singh has directed bankers to increase the pace of seeding of UID numbers with the bank account numbers so that the Direct Benefit Transfer scheme (DBT) is successful in the district. DDC Singh was reviewing the progress of seeding of bank accounts of different banks in the district. In the review meeting he found that under the National Security Scheme, the district administration has given data of 8,425 accounts and till date banks have linked only 1,011 UIDs with the bank accounts. Similarly, in Janani Suraksha Yojna against 1,600 data provided banks have seeded only 250.

In this meeting the bankers promised to DDC that they have made special arrangements for linking the UIDs with the bank accounts and very soon all data provided by the district administration will be linked to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. After this assurance, DDC said that on October 22 he will again hold a review meeting so the bankers should try to make every possible attempt to sideline the hurdles in the path of DBT.

In this meeting DPO Ajay Kumar, DIO SK Dev, District Project Officer of UID Neetu Bharti, PMRDF representative and representatives of Bank of India,

SBI, Allahabad Bank, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank, Syndicate Bank, PNB and Jharkhand Grameen Bank were present.
