The central excise department raided about half a dozen offices of builders of Hazaribagh on Thursday. This raid has brought into light a huge sum of tax evasion by many builders. The raid on different spots started in the morning and continued till late evening. The raid was done in the leadership of Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Central Tax Authorities, Prashant Sinha.
The offices where the raid took place includes Swambhavi constructions Matwari, Devi Constructions Nawabgunj, Morning Vanijya Pvt. ltd., Gajanand Constructions, Aishwarya Homes Ram Nagar and Surya Homes. The officers closely scrutinised the files kept in the offices. Many of the companies did not have their paper work up to date. Except Aishwarya Homes, no other company has paid the service tax regularly. All the builders have evaded a huge amount of service tax every year.
The department has asked all the owners of the company to come to the Headquarter office with all the important documents and papers. The department has also asked related information about the flats from the registry office.
The team consisted of Superintendent Virendra Kumar, Nirmal Dev Singh, Subodh Kumar, Dinbandhu Mishra and R.K.Pandit.
