Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president and MLA from Borio constituency, Tala Marandi on Wednesday joined AJSU Party in the presence of the party Central Committee president Sudesh Kumar Mahto.
Marandi had joined Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) just a week ago after being denied ticket from the BJP. However, the JMM also did not allot him ticket from Borio. AJSU party on Wednesday confirmed that Marandi will contest as the party candidate from Borio. Marandi was removed from post of State BJP Chief for alleged involvement of his son and himself in a criminal case.
AJSU spokesperson, Deosharan Bhagat told that former BJP State president, Tala Marandi joined AJSU party during a meeting at AJSU party headquarters in the State capital. Marandi announced that he will work for AJSU party wholeheartedly.
After joining the party, Marandi said he was influenced by the AJSU party since the time of the student movement in Jharkhand. But, now he has got a chance to contribute to the development of the State by joining the party. Marandi also attacked the BJP and JMM and said that the BJP punished them for opposing the CNT-SPT Act and keeping their points vigorously on the matter.
At the same time, attacking the JMM, he said that after leaving the BJP, he also went to JMM, but there was a deception in the name of tribal too.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahato said the party has gained strength in recent days, including Tala Marandi and Aquil Akhtar, the party is becoming stronger in Santhal region. With this, the party will be able to contribute significantly in the development of the State, he added.
“In the coming time, the party will try to develop the land of Santhal Parganas. This is very opportune day for the party as prominent leader of the region joined AJSU Party from now the party will pave new way in the region for its expansion in Santhal Paragana,” he added.
Mahato said the party, through its many social workers, has been continuously trying to promote the culture of the State and the party is continuously hearing problems of local people of the State. “This is the reason, which attracts the leaders to join the AJSU party, excluding other parties,” he added.
A couple of days earlier former JMM MLA from Maheshpur, Sufal Marandi, Director of Rasik Besra Memorial Trust, Steffi Teresa Murmu joined AJSU Party in presence of Mahto.
