State Vigilance bureau sleuths arrested former Agriculture Minister Satyanand Bhokta from his Hinoo residence on Thursday. Bhokta is allegedly involved in the seed purchase scam of around
Rs 46 crore being probed by the bureau. He was being interrogated by the Bureau sleuths for a couple of days from now. According to sources a team of vigilance bureau led by SP Rajkumar lakra arrested the former BJP minister from Hinoo area at around 8 pm on Thursday, while his Booty More residence was also raided. Bhokta was sent to Birsa Munda Central Jail on Thursday night itself, sources said.
Bhokta was Agriculture Minister between 2003 and 2005 and the bureau is investigating a case related to purchase of seeds during his tenure as minister. Another JMM MlA and former minister Nalin Soren is already in judicial custody in a seed purchase scam. Soren was minister during Madhu Koda’s regime as agriculture minister.
