People of the Capital city are all set to cast their vote on Monday for choosing their ward councillors, Deputy Mayor and Mayor. People, who have closely watched the build up to the elections, are quite excited to vote and are eagerly waiting for Monday morning.

There are another lot of people who will vote just to discharge their duties as a citizen of India. However, some will refrain from voting.

Businessman and Doranda resident, MD Alimuddin, said, “As a responsible citizen, it is my duty and right to vote and I will definitely cast my vote on Monday in favor of the deserving candidate from our Ward. I am aware of the candidates contesting and have also reviewed their work.”

Unnat Singh, a student, said, “I believe that the municipal elections give us an opportunity to know our candidates better than the general elections. I am quite excited about Monday and ready to vote for the deserving candidate.”

Aspiring banker, Nirankar Chowdhary, said, “My colony suffers from drainage problem and it has been prevalent for the last 10 years. We have discussed this problem with one of the candidates and we are quite hopeful for his win. I am eagerly looking forward to vote for my favorite candidate.”

Poulami Roy, home-maker and resident of Bariatu, said, “Selecting the right candidate from a long list is one difficult task. I will do my homework of checking the righteousness of the candidates one last time and then will make up my mind on whether to vote or no.”

Businessman and Bariatu resident, Qaisar Pall, said, “The reliability of the people contesting for the post of councilors from different Wards is questionable. However, being a citizen of India, it is my right to vote and I will cast my vote only for electing the Mayor and Dy Mayor.”

Teacher and home-maker, Bina Pandey, said, “Being a teacher, I have been extremely caught up in my daily chores. Hence, I have not got the time to look into who is contesting and who is not; therefore, even if I vote it will not be justified.”

Another Master’s student, Pankhuri Priyam said, “I believe that selecting the appropriate contestant amongst the lot is a difficult task.

“I am extremely skeptical about the credibility of the promises being made by these candidates. I am not able to decipher whom to vote, hence will refrain from visiting the polling booth.”
