The distribution of energy efficient appliances under the Government of India’s Unnat Jeevan by Affordable lEDs and Appliances for All (UJAlA) programme, is currently being carried out at 106 post offices across 23 districts. Consumers in the State are appealed to visit the nearest post office to their home buy or replace UJAlA appliances.
However, the distribution at the Jharkhand Bijli Vitaran Nigam limited (JVBNl) billing counters shall also resume within a fortnight, and consumers can then buy and replace the appliances at these electricity offices.
Energy Efficiency Services limited (EESl) a joint venture of PSUs under the Ministry of Power is the nodal agency responsible for implementation of the UJAlA programme in the country.
The UJAlA appliances are being made available at 106 EESl designated post offices in Dhanbad, Bokaro, Giridih, Phusro, Hazaribagh, Jhumri Telaiya, Ramgarh, Daltonganj, Palamu, Ranchi, Gumla, lohardaga, Simdega, Deoghar, Godda, Mihijam, Jamtara, Pakur, Sahebganj, Jamshedpur, Seraikela, Chaibasa and Chkradharpur districts respectively.
Post the implementation of GST, the 9-Watt lED bulbs available under the UJAlA scheme are priced at IJ70/- per unit across the country, while the 20-Watt lED tubelights and the BEE 5-star rated energy efficient fans are priced at IJ220/- per unit and IJ1,200/- per unit respectively. Eligible consumers can currently purchase these appliances from post offices across the state, while the distribution at JBVNl offices shall resume shortly.
