An elephant killed a 65-year old man identified as Narayan Rajak of Bajato village in Giridih district within limits of Muffasil police station on Friday evening, police said.
Muffasil police station in charge confirmed the incident, saying that it happened in the Bajota village forest area.
Police said that the man was travelling alone from the village to his farmlands when he was attacked by an elephant.
“The incident occurred around six in the evening on Friday,” said the OC.
He also reported that the Friday incident is the second to occur in the area within a span of 30 days.
The forests officials have advised the members of the public to desist from travelling during early morning and late evening since those are the times that the group of 18 elephants pass through the villages to go and get food and drink water from the river.
