General Manager, electricity , Palamu, A P Singh has ruled out early electricity supply to villages under Garu block in latehar.
Electricity to Garu is still a pipe dream. Here days are refreshing because of the lush green but nights are dark and weird. All activities here standstill soon after the sunset. The CRPF here has got installed solar lights to drive away the darkness.
Residents of this block will have to wait he said taking hands off for their miseries saying the electrification work here was assigned to an agency IVRCl which failed to meet the work here in all these years.
The GM said there is a power sub station here but this is of no major use now as basic electrification works are a non starter like erection of poles, stretching of electricity wires, fitting of conductor, transformers etc. Singh said there are villages after villages where neither poles have been erected nor is there any ground work done there for electrification. More than 5,000 poles are to be erected which is itself a time consuming affair headded.
The chief secretary Sajal Chakarverty was in Garu some weeks back and he was flooded with the complaints of no electricity there and the ever people friendly CS had no answer ready with him for this said sources in Garu. Sources said there are cuts/wear & tear in 33,000 Kv power line here. Again the agency is in a state of passivity said the GM forcing even lodging of the FIR against it but in vain he reminded. Garu's power supply can be decided and determined only when the JSEB Ranchi takes a tough stand.
