In a high-stakes operation against financial crime, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) launched a raid early this morning at the residence of Vicky Bhalotia, alias Pintu Bhalothia, in Jugsalai, Jamshedpur. Bhalotia is a key accused in a massive GST scam running into crores of rupees. The raid is part of a larger crackdown being carried out by the ED across nine locations, including Ranchi, Jamshedpur, and parts of West Bengal.

A six-members ED team from Ranchi is spearheading the investigation at Bhalotia’s residence, where they have been present since the early hours. The area has been turned into a security fortress with the deployment of a large number of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel to prevent any disruption and ensure smooth conduct of the operation.

According to official sources, the ED team is meticulously combing through financial documents and digital records inside the house. All computer systems have been seized for forensic examination as part of the probe into the alleged scam. The search is focused on identifying the flow of money, fake transactions, and shell companies that may have been used to evade Goods and Services Tax (GST) liabilities.

Bhalotia, a controversial figure in Jamshedpur’s financial circles, has previously served jail time in connection with another major scam. Despite being under the scanner for years, his alleged involvement in the GST fraud has now drawn the attention of central enforcement agencies once again.

This latest ED operation is not limited to Jugsalai. Simultaneous raids are underway in several other districts of Jharkhand and neighboring West Bengal, targeting associates and suspected entities linked to the scam. The crackdown is part of a broader campaign by the ED to unearth tax frauds and black money trails that have plagued the GST regime.

Local residents gathered in large numbers outside the Bhalotia residence, watching as officers moved in and out carrying boxes of seized materials. Many expressed shock but not surprise, citing Bhalotia's long-standing reputation for financial irregularities.

As of now, ED officials have not released a formal statement regarding the findings of the ongoing operation. However, sources suggest that the investigation could lead to more arrests and expose a wider network involved in the scam.
