The rail stretch of 141 km between Garhwa Road junction and UP’s Chopan railway junction has 11 unmanned level-crossing and all are to be removed and replaced by limited height subway this calendar year. The unmanned level crossings of East Central Railways under Dhanbad division are prone to accidents.
Daltonganj railway traffic inspector AK Sinha confirming that all 11 UMlC are to be removed said that two of those have already been eliminated and replaced
with limited height subway constructed for the convenience of the public and public transportation. Seven others are to be eliminated before the onset of Monsoon.
Further railway sources said UMlCs cannot be given on contract at all and so the Indian railways have thought to eliminate them and build lHS there.
However removal of UMlC and its substitution by lHS the railways cannot do without the permission from the Deputy Commissioner which is being sought.
