Don't ban IPl, says Kirmani

Former Indian wicketkeeper Syed Kirmani on Saturday supported the implementation of stricter laws over match fixing and betting and felt the responsibility of the cricketers to stop such illegal activities. Kirmani is against the decision of banning the season of Indian Premiere league.

He said, “Today the profession of cricket offers good finance so cricketers need not opt for wrong methods of earning money in the name of this job.” He accepted that betting cannot be stopped.

“Involvement of cricketers in sex scandals, match fixing and betting is quite shameful.” “Strict actions must be taken against such shameless players,” added Kirmani.

Denying to speak on BCCI President N Srinivasan’s resignation issue, Kirmani said, “This is entirely the decision of Srinivasan and I have nothing to say in this regard, he did what he felt right to do.”
