Domicile policy immature: Cong

Following AJSU’s footsteps, the Congress came out in open and rubbished the newly disclosed domicile policy by the State Government. The Coordination Committee of the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee in its meeting on Thursday termed the policy defining locals as immature, incomplete and faulty in nature.

“This is not domicile policy but merely a politics. This policy is not going to do any good to the people of the State which was thought at the time of Jharkhand formation. The Government announced policy is immature, incomplete and faulty and we condemn it,” said PCC president Sukhdeo Bhagat after the meeting.

The Government had last week declared the policy defining all those residing in the State before 1985 as local besides several other criterions. Moreover parties not only in Opposition such as JMM and the Congress but alliance partner AJSU have also opposed the definition.

Congress also decided that to take its opposition of the policy even forward. A delegation of the party would call on Governor Draupadi Murmu on April 19. “This apart, the Congress would also stage dharnas at districts and handover memorandum to the DCs supporting its stand. We also demand from the Government to call a special session of the Assembly and halt the appointments taking place till then,” said Bhagat.

Senior leaders of the party and members of the Committee like Subodh Kant Sahay, Furkan Ansari, Alamgir Alam, Geetashree Oraon, KN Tripathi and Banna Gupta were present in the meeting.
