Refuting the common perception that the Post of Divisional Commissioner was an insignificant one, new Commissioner of North Chhotanagpur Division SS Surendra Singh said that he did not believe in it because he had ample works to do.
The Commissioner was busy in hearing the problems of people and to solve their problems was talking to other officers at his office on Tuesday. On being asked that generally Commissioners do not entertain the common man, how come he was doing soIJ He said, “As a good pleader I use to get them acquainted with the legal position of their problem and try to suggest them the way to get relief,” Singh said.
laughing out on the question of his 30th posting at Hazaribagh in his 20 years of service, Singh said that it made him meet good people across the State. “I believe in sincerity and have always tried to work according to the rules and laws,” the Commissioner said. Talking about the future plans Singh said that quarterly review meetings would be must during his tenure and after the festivals he would visit other districts of this division to take a close look of things going on there and to know the problems.
The Commissioner has also taken over as the Vice Chancellor of Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribagh. Talking about university Singh said that till date he had not gone through any file there but he had noticed that the working pattern of university needed some modification.
