Palamu district e Governance society is spurring BBNL in common parlance Bharat Net to expedite the high speed internet facility in its 283 panchayats here in this district.
Out of 283 panchayats in Palamu 87 panchayats are having high speed Internet facility.
DC Palamu Shantanu Kumar Agrahari chaired a meeting of district e governance society on Thursday October 4 with the specific purpose of reviewing the progress made in reaching high speed internet facility in panchayats but as DC said officials of BBNL were absent in this meeting which is too unfortunate and invites serious attention.
“This BBNL is entrusted with this task. It has roped in 2 agencies PGCIL and CSC. It is the responsibility of BBNL to get things done faster but till date 87 panchayats are now fitted with high speed internet facility while we have 283 and by this snail’s pace it will take months so I have laid down a time frame for BBNL to improve its stock by all means.”
Sources said BBNL has excluded Ramgarh block from providing high speed internet facility which has been seriously objected to by the Palamu administration and BBNL has been directed to take up this Ramgarh block at par with other 20 blocks where high speed broad band facility is to be reached.Sources said there is a lack of co ordination among BBNL, BSNL, PGCIL and CSC as a result work and progress is too dismal in bringing internet facility in panchayats in Palamu.
The DC said Satbarwa block officials have been directed to visit Sohree Khas plus 2 school where teachers climb a palash tree for internet facility there.
DC said the BDO has been asked to find locations for setting up tower for cell phone connectivity.
