Dialysis patients are a harassed lot as they have to climb staircases to reach the third floor where is the dialysis unit in MMCH Daltonganj.
There is a provision of lift but it is a non-starter since as a result the dialysis patients and their attendants have no choice but to reach the dialysis unit through the staircases.
Patients gasp and sit on the staircases midway.
The dialysis unit here has one more major issue.
Here no AV fistula is done which is a prerequisite for dialysis and for this a patient has to go to Ranchi first for having the AV fistula.
Civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar said we find absence of lift is causing hardships to dialysis patients.
He assured the lift will be soon operational.
As for AV fistula not done here he said this facility is available in Ranchi.
There are three dialysis machines here and it is functional.
Sources said dialysis patients are few here as between January 3 and 17 only one male patient underwent dialysis here in the unit.
The dialysis unit is in partnership with the all India based DCDC kidney care unit.
