Security forces, giving final touch to the last minute preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in Ranchi, are making elaborate arrangements in order to ensure fool proof security at the event site. Thorough checking of vehicles moving on roads in the city is being done and the venue at Prabhat Tara ground where Modi is scheduled to deliver his speech is being sanitized by the security forces.

DGP Rajiv Kumar along with the other officials of police and administration on Tuesday visited the venue at Prabhat Tara ground and took stock of the security scenario at the venue.

“Elaborate arrangements are being made and the venue will be under close surveillance of the security forces during PM’s Visit on Thursday,” said DGP Rajiv Kumar. It will be ensured that traffic movement is not distorted during the day and instructions have been passed in this regard, he added.

State police along with the SPG also conducted advance security liasioning at the Airport. “last minute preparations are being done and we are not allowing anybody except the organizers and workers at the venue,” said Ranchi SSP Prabhat Kumar. Trial landing of helicopters is also being done along with the security rehearsal before the PM’s visit at the venue, added the SSP.

“Blueprint for the deployment of static force as well as the forces coming from other districts has already been prepared and traffic officials have also been directed to ensure that not a single point is left unattended to ensure smooth flow of traffic during the day,” SSP said.

The police sources, however, said that security check of Prabhat Tara ground was being done regularly at every 6 hours. The ground will be kept under close surveillance of several close circuit TV cameras including eight doom cameras. As many as 40 entrances have been made for entry into the venue in order to distribute the crowd along the ground.

“Even though the PM will take air root from airport to the venue, Airport-Dhurwa road will also be kept ready as an alternative. As many as 70 magistrates have been deployed along with the police force. Hospital Road however, will be sealed during the programme,” said a senior police official requesting anonymity.

For better monitoring, Airport-Dhurwa road has been divided into five zones by the administration deploying DSP level police officials in all zones. Snipers will also be deployed on the high rise buildings near surrounding the airport and Prabhat Tara ground.
