The Hemant Soren led JMM—Congress—RJD coalition government completed its first year in office on Tuesday. In spite of various ups and downs due to the coronavirus pandemic, Ranchiites from all walks of life have applauded the way the government has dealt with Covid- 19 across the State. For the remaining four years people are looking for better infrastructure especially in the education sector and more job opportunities for the youth.
“Johar! Congratulations to Hemant Soren and his government for completing one year in office. We must applaud the fact that Jharkhand was not severely affected by Covid in comparison to other states in spite of numerous migrant labourers returning home. There are some issues that need to be addressed but rather than complaining one should wish the government the very best for the years to come. I feel the present government should now rise above political lines and work for the complete development of the State and would like to extend my 100 percent support for the welfare of Jharkhand,” said City based entrepreneur and agri enthusiast Rao Samrat.
“Being a student, in the past one year I could not identify anything very remarkable done by the government. There are many good institutes in Jharkhand and the government needs to put initiatives in boosting up the State universities. Work in higher education also needs to be done. Because of the pandemic the studying pattern has changed and it will take time to normalise. With educational institutions closed the Government should ensure that proper infrastructure is available to one and all for online classes,” remarked Puja Kumari, a post graduate in mass communication.
“The Hemant Soren government has shown their capacity of managing the Covid situation in a very bright light. A small and still a nascent state like Jharkhand has shown that they are right up there with the slightly more developed ones in the way they managed the migration of labourers and students. The humane touch has shown the noble intentions of the CM. the government is not backing down from any court battles as well when it comes to protecting the environment. They are going head on versus the Central government in a litigation battle at the Supreme Court for not letting more mines to be dug in ecologically sensitive areas. The one area where it has lagged is on the issue of employment,” said Amritansh Vats, Advocate Jharkhand High Court.
“Due to the pandemic since everyone was housebound it is a little difficult to say what the government has done in the past one year. Not much improvement in any field can be seen. In the coming four years hopefully new job opportunities for the youth of the State will be created. The year 2020 went in Covid but the real test is in the remaining years on what the government does for the benefit of the people. In comparison to other states, the way the pandemic has been dealt with in Jharkhand has been remarkable. The number of Covid cases was controlled which shows that some good work has been done for sure,” said Dr Neha Nupur, Guest Faculty at Doranda College.
“Looking at the year- end report card of the JMM led Mahagathbandhan the government has secured full marks in the fight against Covis- 19. Well. We should not forget the recent cabinet decision for the waiver of farm loans for less than Rs 50,000 which will cost the State exchequer for 2000 crore. Apart from that the government does not have anything to showcase. Hopefully some good reforms will be seen in the coming years,” opined Industrial Consultant Abhishek Sahu.
