The Central Convention of Jharkhand Coal Millennium Union and Jharkhand Shramik Sangh, subsidiary units of the ruling political party Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, concluded at Ravindra Bhawan of CMPDI on Saturday.
This convention was conducted by Chief Minister and JMM President Hemant Soren as the chief guest through video conferencing from Delhi. Minister Yogendra Prasad also attended as a special guest. This convention was conducted by presidium members Mathura Prasad Mahato, Vinod Pandey, Vijay Hansda and Fagu Besra and executive committee members Sanjeev Bedia, Jai Narayan Mahato, Shailendra Maithi, Akhilesh Mahato alias Raju.
Chief guest Chief Minister Hemant Soren addressed the online convention. The CM said that there is a need to strengthen the organization for the workers and the displaced. Several resolutions were passed in the convention, in which privatization, opposition to the four anti-labor labor codes, and the decision to intensify the struggle for the rights of laborers and displaced people were prominent. The proposals include giving compensation of land to displaced peasants four times the market rate, employment to all eligible displaced unemployed persons above the age of eighteen years, permanent house built on twenty-five decimal plot of land in exchange of land under rehabilitation, making peasants share potters in Coal India.
During this convention, demand was made to amend the rehabilitation policy of Coal India 2012 and make it in accordance with the rehabilitation land acquisition law 2013. The proposal to give compensation to peasants holding forest leases under settlement non-cultivated khas and forest land rights was also passed in the convention. The proposal that Jharkhand Coalery Mazraa Union will participate in the nationwide general strike on 09 July was also passed unanimously.
In the central convention, the announcement of the central committee members for the next term and the selection of the executive members were done unanimously. Shibu Soren, Upadhyay former minister Mathura Prasad Mahato, Vinod Kumar Pandey, General Secretary Fagu Besra, Secretary Jai Narayan Mahato, Treasurer Sona Ram Manjhi were unanimously elected as the central president of Jharkhand Coalery Mazraa Union. Jharkhand Labour Union's Central President Shibu Soren, General Secretary Fagu Besra, Joint Secretary Shailendra Mathew and Treasurer Sanjeev Bedia were elected.
