DC Sunil Kumar ordered to the concerned officers to declare the areas around Sadar and Mission Hospitals as silence zone in the meeting in which environmental issues were also discussed. DC also ordered the Civil Surgeon to submit report of hospitals and nursing homes about the disposal of their medical wastes. He cleared that in any case the medical waste should not be disposed in populated areas. He also directed to start incinerator for disposal of medical waste.
In this meeting, members raised the matter of continuous use of polythene bags by the shopkeepers and people. DC Sunil Kumar ordered to take strict action against the users of polythene bags.
DC also directed the district transport and motor vehicle officer to check the old vehicles which are emitting more polluting gases and to keep eyes on coal and sand loaded trucks running without cover.
He constituted a team of police and administrative officers who will keep eye on such vehicles and have the power of imposing fine and seizure of vehicles.
DC Sunil Kumar directed the officials of Municipal Council to fix spots for idol emersion.
He said that after announcement of these fixed spots no one shall be allowed to immerse idols here and there.
In this meeting matter of pollution created by stone crushers was also raised and DC instructed the officials to take appropriate action against such crushers.
