Now the tourists at Dasham Falls have a reason to feel safe. The water fall which is a major tourist destination in Jharkhand and has claimed more than 100 lives since year 2000 will be made ‘accidents free’ soon. The tourism department has roped in geological scientists and engineering experts to make this famous waterfall, some 40km down south Ranchi as a safe zone.
These experts have drained all the water of the waterfall (it is almost dry these days) and found that there are two massive holes inside its rocky surface. All the tourists who venture deep into water slip inside these holes resulting to deaths.
It is a great cause of concern for the local administration as over 10 people get drowned every year at the waterfall and go traceless. Their bodies are found after a couple of days. The State Tourism department has been mulling to fill the surface with concrete. Tourism secretary with the CMD of CCl on Saturday visited the waterfall. The department would hire locals as working guards here and also stop tourists
from venturing into deep waters.
