Holding sporadic tension in Bokaro and Hazaribagh during Ramnavmi an outcome of State Government’s incompetence, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha founder Babulal Marandi trained his guns at Chief Minister Raghubar Das, demanding his resignation.

“More than 60 incidents of communal conflicts have happened in the 15 months of CM’s tenure. law and order is in a shambles. The State has never had such an incompetent CM. If he cannot put an end to this, it is best that he resigns,” stated Marandi, addressing mediapersons on Sunday.

“Anti-social elements are not afraid of the administration or police forces. A substantial part of the communal conflicts involved cattle in some way. Riots have closely followed festivals in Jharkhand since BJP assumed power,” he added.

On the recently announced and much-debated domicile policy, JVM supremo made it clear that the party will oppose the policy from the forefront.

“Our movement against the present format of Domicile Policy has already been declared by the party. There is a dire need of domicile policy accompanied by an employment policy, making provisions for reserving quotas for locals in all services in Jharkhand for a period of 20 years,” he added.

Marandi also said that the merger between Jharkhand Vikas Morcha and Janta Dal (United) is a work in progress.

“The merger will address the requirement of a much-needed option in the present political scenario. Interactions are going on in this direction,” added Marandi.

Citing the examples of other states offering more than 50 per cent reservation for their natives, Marandi added, “In developed states like Haryana, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, the first two under BJP’s rule, have provided more than 50 per cent reservations for their locals. Following their lead, similar decisions should be taken in Jharkhand.”

Supporting the ban on alcoholic beverages in effected in Bihar, Marandi expressed his support to the cause. “Some women organisations from Jharkhand opposing alcohol trade in State have invited Bihar CM Nitish Kumar to support their motives, and he has agreed too. Taking cue from the neighbouring state, Jharkhand Government too should impose a ban on alcohol,” he said.
