Daltonganj police have earned enough public good will for two reasons. First it cracked murder case of a minority youth in only 12 hours time. The youth Eqbal Hawari alias Gaddan was found dead with throat slit with a sharp weapon on Sunday in the river bed Koyal. His body was covered with numerous kilograms of sand.
Following the tragedy at Balumath wherein two members of the minority community were hanged to death this murder of the minority youth gave an opportunity to some vested interests to give this murder a communal colour. Communal tongues were out in good numbers then said sources.
Daltonganj police nipped all this in bud with its professionalism and active co operation from the members of the two communities. loving a tribal girl had taken the life of this youth said Daltonganj police.
The youth was found on sand bed which technically speaking comes under Chainpur police station. Daltonganj police did not waste any time over territorial jurisdiction and took command of this murder case . Sources said this has won Daltonganj police a good name.
Sources said behind this forward action of Daltonganj police the role of SP Palamu Patel Mayur Kanhaiya lal is noteworthy as sources added SP Palamu just asked Daltonganj police to go ahead in the case no matter where the head or the legs of the deceased falls in Chainpur police station or in Daltonganj police station.
J P Singh inspector and OC Sanjay Kumar Malviya Daltonganj police station on Monday gave a blow by blow account of this murder conceding that there were attempts made here to vitiate the communal atmosphere when the festival Holi is just days ahead.
The two police officers said a pool of blood solved the case. Sniffer dog was used under order of SP Palamu Patel Mayur.
Giving details the two police officers said Eqbal was in love with a tribal girl and her parents disliked it. The tribal girl’s father is a Chowdhury while her mother is a lakra woman. One the night of march 20 at 12.30 am Eqbal reached the room of this girl and started assaulting her as she was not responding to his phone calls. Chowdhury woke up and with the help of his sons got this youth thrashed and throat cut and then the body was dumped in the river bed of Koyal.
J P Singh and S K Malviya said the tribal girl and her mother were locked up by Chowdhury when this heinous murder was committed. Police have not detained them but the Chowdhury and his three sonss are hiding. Police are to arrest them and recover the weapon used in this murder.
