Concerned over the recent spurt in Naxal activities in Musaboni, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has decided to further intensify its operation in ultra-infested areas of Patamda and Ghatshila in East Singhbhum district.Inspector General, CRPF, Jharkhand, RK Mishra, who was in city, said that the police and para-military forces have brought the rebels on back foot at their hubs like Saranda in West Singhbhum, Jhumra Pahad in Bokaro, Palamu, and latehar.
However, even after facing a lash out, the rebels have now started joining in pockets in the adjoining areas from where they have been making their presence felt from time to time," he said. The IG said that they have now decided to enter naxal hubs and bring back the locals’ confidence on the administration so that the rebels do not step in those areas again.
"We are confident about our strategy and now we want to intensify operations in about dozen pockets where the rebels have confined themselves after fleeing from their stronghold areas. They will be left with no option but to give up hands down,” said Mishra.Areas like Tinkonia pahad at Patamda near Jamshedpur on the border of Bengal, the Maoists continue to make their presence felt. Sources informed that there are about two dozen battalions of CRPF jawans, numbering about 24,000, deployed in the State but for launching a decisive battle against the Maoists, seven more battalions are required.
“It is very important to work with coordination and one must learn from the past mistakes of not being casual to the established security norms while combating extremist forces,” noted another senior official. He went on to add that Ghatshila division of East Singhbhum district was serving as a strategic location for the troops during the anti-naxal operation that has been initiated by the security forces.
According to information, the area is being used as framing strategies against the ultras as several senior security officers are camping here and regularly meeting with forces. The banned outfit CPI (Maoist) has been active in the Ghatshila sub-division that comprises of areas like Dumaria, Musaboni, Chakulia, Bahragora and Ghatshila.
The fringe areas of Ghatshila have been given a high profile security cover. The forces are not only on the strict vigil but are also organising camps in the remote areas to distribute relief materials and get friendly with the locals.
