M FAIYAZ AHMAD

A bike ambulance was donated to the Dagra security camp on Monday where a company of the 134 battalion of the CRPF is stationed. Commandant of 134 battalion of CRPF A D Sharma donated this ambulance bike which has siren, blue light and safety strap with over head shed for patient to ward off rain, sun and wind to ride this bike for emergency medical aid from home to clinic or to community health centre or even to ANM.

Sources said cases of snake bite, drowning, gastro enteritis where there is loss of fluid in body, burning, accident etc can now be faster treated with the help of this ambulance bike where only pregnant woman is not preferred to be transported for her own health reasons.

Commandant Sharma drove this ambulance bike with a pillion rider in an aged ailing villager whom he brought down to the medical camp organized by CRPF at Dagra based government upgraded high school.

The visitor on this ambulance bike was examined by the CRPF doctor K K Singh.

Sharma said, “I drove this village folk for more than two kilometers. He looked happy to be on bike as medical assistance came too fast for him.

This ambulance bike will be here at this Dagra camp which will be readily available to every needy be it day or night. Village folks who know driving bike can help in reaching the sick and the ailing to the nearest health care centre.”

CRPF here on Monday held a medical camp too where came around 300 visitors. Sharma said, “Our CRPF doctor K K Singh told me that visitors had seasonal health problems. There came no case of any malnourishment or of anemia among the growing girls. This is a big surprise. Our medical camp was well taken by the villagers.”

CRPF also donated about 1,500 books and set up a library in the Government upgraded high school here. Second in command of 134 battalion of CRPF Arvind Tripathy said, “We donated two reading tables, 16 chairs. Solar lights, 2 fans, 2 tools and two almirahs for books. Students of the school were too happy to see these things in their school.”  Story books and motivational books were donated too for the students here besides their general knowledge and text books added Tripathy.

In Charge head master of this school Sudama Prasad said on phone from Dagra distance of 38 Kms away from Daltonganj and on a location too difficult, “CRPF has changed the scene. It is now peace here. This school had remained shut for 3 years for fear of the Maoists. Now it is all a story of the bygone days.”

This head master further said, “Today there are 448 enrolled students here. Girls too. We are two government teachers along with four para teachers.  We do not fear Maoists. We trust CRPF.”

Asked if these jawans of CRPF ever posed any inconvenience to women and girls on any unhappy time head master hardly took a second to say, “We live here like a big family. CRPF has won the respect of the villagers.”
