Palamu police and CRPF, in a combined operation, arrested a CPI Maoist Sanjay alias Bree at Rangayee village under Panki police station. The security contingent seized one carbine, one walkie talkie, one flasher, 60 round of fire and watch and a backbag. Sanjay was sent to Central Jail on Monday.
SP Palamu YS Ramesh and the Commandant of the 134 battalion CRPF Anil Minz conducted a joint Press briefing . The two top cops said Sanjay (19) in Maoist outfit is not any old cadre but just 8-months-old in this naxal organisation but the recovery of a carbine from him suggests the cadre has the potentiality to become a force to reckon with in near future but the police and the CRPF aborted the plan and caught him with carbine which was looted from the police.
Niraj Kumar of CRPF was with his boys who along with Panki police did this post mid night operation which was gun less and blood less too as Ramesh said “None of our boys — of police and CRPF —used any gun shot despite the fact that Sanjay had this automatic weapon carbine with 59 round of fire with him and Sanjay could have posed a serious threat to the security team but with precise and meticulous preparation and planning Sanjay could not be upto any sinister trick of him.”
Asked that Maoists when at home do not carry any weapon like carbine with them but here Sanjay had with him a carbine to which a CRPF official present in the joint press briefing of Ramesh and Minz said “The security forces caused a dispersal of the squad in which Sanjay was and in the dispersal Sanjay got alienated from the rest of his cadres and thus he found it safe to be back home at Rangayee village only to be caught at 2 am on March 4.
The native village from where Sanjay was caught with carbine and others is a dangerous one but the police and the CRPF braved all risks and carried out this operation at night without causing any dislocation of civil life in the village. The police remanded Sanjay in judicial custody today March 4 itself. Sanjay had never dreamt of being caught. The Maoists have got a setback as their carbine is gone now with 59 rounds of ammunition. These 59 rounds of ammunitions are of 9mm bore while one is of 7.65 mm bore.
Ramesh and Minz have devised a strategy to put the heat on the Maoists in the wake of the general elections coming too near. Ramesh added the security forces were on the heels of Sanjay and the squad for 4 days. The squad is led by Roshan who slipped and got into a hiding following tremendous pressure mounted by the security forces said Ramesh and Minz.
