Urban Development Minister CP Singh on Thursday directed the officials of his department to fix a meeting with National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and Road Construction Department for taking a final call on a private company’s proposal for construction of cross section in Ratu Road and Harmu flyovers.  Reviewing development works at Project Building in Ranchi, Singh also watched a presentation on construction of the two flyovers.

He asked officials to consider the long term traffic load on the flyovers while planning their construction. “We should not delay the construction work. Hold meetings with departments concerned and finalize a proposal for flyover construction as early as possible,” Singh said while presiding over a meeting of bureaucrats, including State Urban Development Secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh.

The Minister said on Thursday that the construction of Ratu Road flyover got delayed despite clearance to Detailed Project Report (DPR) due to various challenges. All works related to construction of flyovers and roads shall be expedited, he added.

Singh also asked officials of the department to ensure construction of two smart roads – one from Birsa Munda Airport to Hinoo Chowk and the other from Dibdih to Birsa Chowk—before Dusshera this year. The two smart roads will have separate lane for cycles, separate lane for pedestrians and other modern facilities.

Reviewing water supply in Khunti, Adityapur and Maheshpur; he asked officials to ensure quick troubleshooting. “I have given necessary instructions to the officials concerned for fast and effective work in projects of urban development. It is not practical to set deadlines for every project, but we will prioritise time management this time,” he said.

Urban Development Secretary Ajoy Kumar Singh said that keeping the traffic smooth on the road below the flyover should be a priority during the construction. The construction of flyovers, he added, will ease the traffic in the entire stretch from Ratu Road to Harmu, making commuting to the airport hassle free.

Minister CP Singh also reviewed the construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana on Thursday. According to figures with the State government, houses for at least 47,000 beneficiaries have already been constructed in Jharkhand and many of them have moved in too. Singh asked officials to hold camps for beneficiaries who are yet to get funds for construction of houses and address their concerns. “Hold camps for beneficiaries and address the hurdles they face in availing the benefits of the Awas Yojana,” Singh said.
