The second wave of Covid 19 pandemic has now affected VIP addresses of Jharkhand as the 12-year-old elder son of Jharkhand chief minister was tested positive to the virus.
While the boy is under treatment under self-isolation at the chief minister’s residence on Kanke road, chief minister Hemant Soren revealed about his unwell son in an interview given to a news channel.
The revelation came a day after Jharkhand governor Droupadi Murmu was rushed to hospital for medical consultation after she was also tested positive.
“My son too has been tested positive. He is at home and I am monitoring the situation. Be it minor, elder or old everybody is facing problems,” Soren revealed.
Soren, who is keeping a close watch on the situation across the state, apparently disclosed about his son to make people realize the enormity of the situation as the second wave of Covid 19 is deadlier than the previous one.
Union minister of tribal affairs Arjun Munda pressed in the Bengal assembly election retired to self-quarantine after he was tested positive on April 7.
Two days back BJP’s Koderma MP, Annapurna Devi was also found to be infected with the virus.
Other than VIPs of Jharkhand some of the senior officials of the government have been affected by the virus.
During the first wave of Covid 19 hitting the nation last year two of the cabinet colleagues of Soren were affected by Covid 19. While the then minister Haji Hussain Ansari recovered from Covid 19 but he later on died due to heart attack the other minister Jagganath Mahto had to undergo lung transplantation. Last year a good number of MLAs were affected by Covid.
“But this time Covid 19 has returned with different strains and this is very deadly. We are passing through a worst calamity. There is an unprecedented crisis never seen before. It is better to take precaution rather than risking life at a time when there is chaos for oxygen, medicines and beds,” an official of the state government.
Meanwhile, union minister Munda on Monday released Rs 50 lakh from MP fund for the purchase of oxygen cylinders, oxygen concentrator machine, cardiac ambulances besides to set-up an oxygen plant in Khunti; the parliamentary constituency he represents.
BJP’s Ranchi MLA CP Singh also released Rs 20 lakh from his MLA fund for the purchase of Remdesivir injection and oxygen cylinders.
