PNS

Jamshedpur police has sent a production warrant to Tihar Jail authorities through a local court to seek transfer of arrested Al-Qaeda operative, Mohammad Sami, to the Steel city. Sami was arrested by Delhi Police from Haryana and his interrogation had led to the arrest of two operatives of the terrorist organisations from Jamshedpur.

Earlier, a team of State police was expected to bring Sami back to Jharkhand. “There is no need to

send a team anymore. Today, we have sent a production warrant to Tihar Jail authorities and now, it is their responsibility to transfer Sami to the jail at Jamshedpur. May be by next week, he (Sami) will be brought to Jamshedpur,” said Jamshedpur SP, Anoop T Mathew.

Mathew added the Jamshedpur police will move court to seek remand of the arrested terrorist once he is brought to the steel city. Notably, Sami’s interrogation had led to the arrest of two more operatives—Ahmed Masood Akram Sheikh alias Masood and Raju alias Naseem Akhter— on January 25 from Dhatkidih and Mango, respectively. Masood had joined Al-Qaeda in 2003 where as Akhter joined the organisation subsequently. “Once he is brought, we will try to trace Al-Qaeda’s links in Jamshedpur and Jharkhand,” said Mathew.

The two arrested terrorists of the dreaded terrorist organisation confessed acquaintance with Sami, who had gone to Pakistan for training on Masood’s request.
