Wife, son plan fast unto death from Oct 13
The SDJM court on Thursday rejected former Agriculture Minister Yogendra Sao’s plea to shift him to either AIIMS, New Delhi or RIMS, Ranchi and sent him and other seven accused in 13-day judicial custody to JP Central jail in an extortion case lodged at Giddi police station.
Police produced the accused before the court in a group of two each — Yogendra Sao and Sandeep Sao were produced before the court in the beginning while Raj Kumar Gupta and Pawan Sao were the last to turn up.
Initially, the court of Garima Mishra ordered the extension of judicial custody to 14 days but when it was brought to her notice that October 23 is holiday, she changed it to 13-day judicial custody. Now all the accused will be produced before the court on October 22.
Yogendra Sao’s lawyer had filed two petitions — first to get bail and the second plea involved transferring him to either RIMS or AIIMS for better medical treatment. While the court, hearing the bail petition, asked the police to produce the case diary on October 20, it rejected the second petition seeking transfer to a super-speciality hospital for better treatment.
Outside the court Sao tried to talk to media persons but when he was not allowed to do so he almost shouted, “I have full faith in judiciary… everyone knows who I am and my supporters and people of Barkagaon will take revenge of all my wounds by their votes (Mere har chot ka badla vote se lenge mere log)”.
Meanwhile, Sao’s family members and supporters have decided to stage fast unto death in front of the chief minister’s residence in Ranchi to expose the ‘misdeeds’ of Hazaribagh SP Manoj Kaushik. His wife Nirmala Devi alleged that the SP falsely implicated her husband when the latter exposed Kaushik’s involvement in the illegal coal business.
His son Sumit Kumar said that they are going to sit on fast unto death in front of CM residence at Ranchi from October 13. “Thereafter they will start jail bharo movement in which the supporters of Yogendra Sao will take part in a large number and if the state government still did not take any step against SP Manoj Kaushik they will self immolate,” he threatened.
