Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Dr. Neera Yadav has said that unemployment, especially among the educated people in States like Jharkhand was a bi-product of destruction of century old and established cottage industries, primarily by the British. Inaugurating new building of beautician cum tailoring training centre at Arogya Bhawan of Vikas Bharti (Bishunpur) in the city funded by MECON limited today, she said that short-term skill development programmes like these would be of great help for the State.
MECON has funded construction of two-room building under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) for beautician and tailoring training centre being run by Vikas Bharti (Bishunpur) in its Ranchi centre. The centre aims at provide training to over 1,500 ladies by 2019. MECON limited Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Atul Bhatt, Vikas Bharti (Bishunpur) Secretary and Padma Shri Ashok Bhagat, MECON GM (CSR) Sanjeev Kumar and Nodal Officer (CSR) HK Bhanjdev, and trainee beauticians and tailors joined the inauguration ceremony of the building.
“Our daughters and sisters migrate to metro cities, many a times never to return, merely for daily bread and butter of their families. The government has been trying its best to stop this drain by providing skill development trainings and employment thereafter, right at their doorsteps. We are opening more and more Degree and Engineering Colleges in State with utmost priority,” said Yadav. She also persuaded trainee girls and ladies to spread their knowledge with neighbours.
Ashok Bhagat said on the occasion that Vikas Bharti had started skill development programmes at local level in forests of Gumla way back in 1983, which resulted in thousands of young boys getting trained in repairing works of hand pumps, motorcycles, radio other than becoming blacksmith and carpenter since then. “It was only our desperation to provide employment-oriented skill development trainings at local level since last three decades, which saw the only Skill Development Centre given to Jharkhand from 30 such centres across the country under Pradhanmantri Kaushal Yojna (PMKY) being given to Vikas Bharti itself,” said Bhagat.
At the same time, Bhatt said that the company felt proud of being associated with such programmes. “I have been to around a dozen of foreign countries, and I can say that Indians are among the most prosperous communities there only because of their labourious nature. We want these trainee beauticians to become masters and to spread their knowledge among hundreds and thousands. MECON would keep offering its support for such activities,” said Bhatt.
