Police is yet to trace four girls who went missing since afternoon of August 12 from Bariatu area of Ranchi. The girls, all minors, were student of Government Middle School at Bariatu. A case in this regard was filed by relatives of the missing girls.
Police has registered a case of kidnapping as the children are minors despite the matter being prima facie a case of leaving the house at will.
“Although it appears to be a case of going to some place with friends, yet we have registered a case of kidnapping because all of them are underage,” said DIG Ranchi Pravin Kumar Singh.
On August 12, four girls--Neha Sanga (13-years), Punam lakra (13-years), laxmi Munda (15-years) and Suhana Parween (13-years)—went missing after having lunch at Neha’s house. A massive search was launched by family members when the four girls did not reach their home. According to sources, the four friends were heard talking about relocating to either Kolkata or Mumbai.
