Satbarwa police in Palamu are investigating an alleged “love jehad” case. DSP Premnath said a 21-year-old girl has lodged a written complaint with the Satbarwa police on December 12 in which she has alleged that her husband who first described himself as Sahil Kumar and Agarwal by caste is in fact Imran Khan. The two have lived together for more than one and a half years.
DSP said the girl’s version in writing is like any fairy tale. “She has written to the police that she developed love for Sahil Kumar over phone in Dhanbad where she was undertaking training courses in nursing in Pataliputra Medical College’s ANM nursing training school Dhanbad. The girl and boy got married in a temple in latehar’s Chandwa on November 19 this year,” said the DSP.
The both had happy times until December 9 when she ran away. The girl alleged that Sahil Kumar took her to Akbarpur in UP where he said he is a Muslim and wears the name Imran Khan. She further alleged that Sahil coerced her to convert to Islam which she resisted and fled from Akbarpur for her village Kamaru Bakoriya under Satbarwa in Palamu.
The DSP said the police would contact its counterparts in Dhanbad, latehar and Akbarpur to unravel the truth. He added that during the marriage held in a temple in Chandwa no body from the family of Sahil Kumar turned up and no doubt raised then by any of the members of the family of the girl.
