Cops arrest four in Chutia murder case

PNS

Ranchi police on Thursday arrested four people in connection with the Chutia murder case, in which a local resident was killed by two criminals in broad daylight on  June 24. The arrest was made at Katari Bagan in Chutia at 8.20 am during a checking drive conducted by the police following a tip-off to nab the culprits involved in the shootout near Oxford School.

Several skeletons tumbled out of the closet following the arrest of the four accused — Kumar, Manish Dhan, Sanju Hembrom and Pankaj Jaiswal. According to the confessions made by the accused the principal conspirator behind the murder of Sanjiv Prasad was the relative of the deceased, Sumant Sahu. With the arrest it became clear that the killing was done over a feud between the main accused in the case and the victim. Sanjiv and Sumant were at loggerheads with each other from a very long time however the enmity intensified after the latter married to the former’s cousin. But the police suspected that the proximity of a member of Bhola Pandey’s gang with Sanjiv made Sumant hatch the conspiracy. Sumant has not been arrested yet.
