Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Monday laid foundation stone for construction of section-7 of Ring Road which has been pending for more than two years. The propose stretch would connect Kathitand with Vikas Vidyalaya and would facilitate movement between the two points.

Construction work of section-7 was hit badly as allegations of misappropriation of funds flied thick and fast, contractors were blacklisted for allegedly flouting guidelines, pilferage of construction material and political instability in the State. The proposed stretch would cost Rs 450-crore.

Addressing officials of the Road Construction department, Das said, “Start construction work from tomorrow and make sure that the quality of the road is not compromised. This road would help in decongesting traffic and would balance distribution of traffic”.

The CM tried to allay fear of displacement due to proposed construction work and expressed rehabilitation before displacement to be the incumbent State government’s policy to save people from the pangs of displacement. CM stressed upon the need to count up to the people’s expectations.

“Our government’s priority is rehabilitating people before displacing them and we committed for that. We to stand up to our commitment and live up to the expectations of the people,” added Das.

The CM also instructed Road Construction to prepare detailed project report for flyovers wherever needed on the section-7 of the Ring Road. The CM’s direction came at the request of Hatia MlA, Navin Jaiswal.

Interestingly, Das informed the gathering at Kathitand Junction about proposed four-lane work of Dumri-Phusro Jaina More Road which is likely cost Rs500-crore. Das also said the government would lay network of roads in rural areas expedite development of villages and warned vested interests to not create hurdles in the State’s progress on the path of development. Renovation and construction of new roads would also start, maintained Das.

As the road would add to the State’s infrastructure requirements to pace up development, the CM further added that the government would strive to become power surplus state by 2019-20 and efforts are being made in that direction.

Ranchi MP Ram Tahal Chaudhary said the under-construction road would save people from traffic congestions on city streets. The Ring Road when upon completion would provide an alternate route to passengers to city’s like Jamshedpur, lohardaga and would reduce burden on city’s roads.

Kanke MlA, Jeetu Charan Ram; Khijri MlA, Ram Kumar Pahan; Principal Secretary, Road Construction, Rajbala Verma and officials of the department were present on the occasion.

On the occasion, Verma said Ring Road is way of urbanization and the government has started special programme for the construction of road measuring 1500-km through Jharkhand Accelerated Road Development Programme which is a joint venture of State government and Il&FS.
