Three-day-long 16th State level conclave of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad concluded on Saturday. During these three days, the members of ABVP sat with the distinguished denizens of the society and discussed upon various issues of the education system especially in the State of Jharkhand. On the basis of these discussions, 14 proposals were selected which they will hand over to the State Government.

During the discussions, it became clear that since the inception of Jharkhand not a single Government has done anything to solve the problems of education system. In 15 years, the State Government has only made temporary arrangements such as appointment of para teachers, shiksha mitras, contractual teachers etc. thus enhancing the discontent among the youth.

Posts are vacant right from primary school levels to university level and the appointing authorities of this State failed to perform honestly. This is the cause of deterioration of the government schools and colleges and increase in the numbers of private schools and coaching institutes. ABVP has proposed to fill the vacancies of the Government schools and colleges and to make strict laws to check and control the private institutions.

It has also proposed making Sanskrit and Skill development course necessary for school students and environmental science and skill development course for college students. Providing basic facilities to the student in the schools and colleges, regular election of students union at university level, opening ITI or polytechnic in every block and medical, engineering and other specified colleges at district level are some other proposals passed in this conclave.

ABVP has also proposed formation of an education commission in the state to look into the matters and complaints related with the educational institutions. It has been said that the commission should have the power to probe against fourth grade staff to Vice Chancellor and within fixed time frame resolve the matter and to punish the guilty.

In this conclave, new office-bearers of State committee were selected. Dr Pankaj Kumar of Ranchi University was declared State president while Gunjan Marandi of Dumka took over as state secretary of ABVP. The names of other office-bearers were also finalised in this conclave.
