State Congress has rapped the Government for pathetic condition of power and water supplies across the capital and other parts of the State. The party rated the situation worse than ever while holding the present dispensation directly responsible for the woes.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday JPCC spokesperson Alok Kumar Dubey also refuted the alibi being given in the form of weather condition. “Electricity supply condition has made the life miserable for the residents. It is worrying to note that power situation had gone to worst ever in last 17 years. The Government is blaming it to weather which is a farce. On several occasions, we have seen extreme weather conditions. It is equally baffling to note that the department is under the Chief Minister,” said the leader.
He also laughed at the efforts claimed to be made out for providing ‘zero power cut’. “The Government is just making people fool. When the system in place is unable to sustain even half an hour of thunderstorm then what would be situation in future. Nevertheless the Government is going for power tariff hike which is equally troublesome for the people,” added Dubey.
The party also referred to the underground cabling work which is being done by ‘Polycab’. “The private company is conducting the exercise for power infrastructure in Ranchi but people are not getting any benefit out of this. Corruption is taking place at large scale and officials of the Department have on several occasions rapped the company for the poor show. The Congress party wants to know why the company is being treated with kid gloves,” said the spokesperson flanked with other leaders.
He at the same time also hit the Government for poor water supply to the large part of the capital. “This is like a double whammy for Ranchi residents. Colonies are not getting water supplies for days and weeks. Even patients of RIMS and other hospitals are suffering under this regime. The Congress party strongly believes that Chief Minister Raghubar Das who is in-charge of the electricity department and also heading the Government should resign from his post,” said Dubey.
