'Cong trying for grand alliance'

PNS

Senior Congress leader Furkan Ansari — who had unsuccessfully fought last parliamentary elections — has reiterated that the party is still in the process of consultation for a grand alliance. He said efforts were on  to bring parties such as JVM and AJSU on one single platform ahead of the Assembly polls.

It may be mentioned here that Congress Minister KN Tripathi had met JVM chief Babulal Marandi and explored the possibilities for a tie up. Though, the JVM has its serious reservations over coming together with the JMM, already in alliance with the Congress.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the manifesto committee of the State Congress has identified over 30 points which may figure in the election documents ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls. In the leadership of Anadi Bramha the committee met on Tuesday and discussed the issues coming from across the State.

The committee has divided the manifesto into three parts comprising political preface and short-term and long-term plans. Issues such as employment generation, naxal, migration, education, women welfare, irrigation, farming, industrial policy, law and order, power, tribal issues have been discussed which would be given a plan shape by inviting suggestions from other organisations of the party.

“The party has listed host of issues which would figure in the manifesto for the polls. We will hold a wider consultation and frame the document thereafter,” said Anadi Bramha.

The manifesto committee would again meet on September 6 which would take into consideration all the suggestions coming. Members of the committee Binod Kispotta and Sameer Bhagat were also present in the meeting.
