Claiming that the promises made by the NDA Government of good governance and all round development in past two years are totally false and misguiding, the Congress on Saturday took on Prime Minister Narendra Modi heavily yet again saying that the Centre has failed to stand to expectations of the poor, youth and the farmers of the country.

In a Press conference in Ranchi Congress spokesperson Sanjay Nirupam released a 63-page booklet containing the so called failure stories of the BJP Government in past two years. Nirupam said that BJP is a party of promotion. It has spent around `1,000 crore in its advertisement and promotion, including organising a mega show at India Gate in Delhi, on completion of two years of its Government at the Centre. But in last two years, it has failed completely. He said, “Value of Indian currency against US dollar has only fallen since BJP assumed office, farmers’ suicide cases have just mounted and (industrial) production has fallen down at its lowest.”

He also accused the Central Government of just changing names of the development programmes started by former UPA Government and giving them new names. He said that National Skill Development Programmes has been renamed as Skill India, and programmes started by UPA under JNNURM have been polished to be a part of Smart City.

In the presence of PCC chief Sukhdev Bhagat and others, Nirupam also said that this has been the first time in the history in India and probably in the world that Dhara-144 was imposed in Marathwara under a BJP-ruled Government and PM has remained silent.

When asked about why people are not taking these data released time-to-time by Congress, and Congress as a party seriously in States where elections have concluded recently, Nirupam only said that the party is doing its best to regain its momentum.
