Cong picks holes in Das' 100-day rule

Congress on Monday critised the BJP-led Government in the State on the completion of 100 days in power. Pradesh Congress Committee president Sukhdeo Bhagat blamed the Government for unleashing financial mismanagement and also for only sticking to announcements.

“This Government has faltered on each and every front and has reduced to an entity for making new promises. The State has seen worst ever financial indiscipline when not only over Rs9,000 crore were surrendered at the end of financial year but over Rs2131.6 crore were withdrawn from treasury and deposited in Pl accounts. No ground work has taken place in the State which is worrying especially when Jharkhand for the first time is being driven by a full majority Government,” said Bhagat while talking to the media on the occasion.

Although he defended the erstwhile JMM-led coalition Government with Congress as a partner which governed most part of the financial year 2014-15, saying that due to series of elections spending was low.

The State Congress president on the occasion demanded from the Government to publish a white paper on the financial misdeeds so that true picture can come before the public.  He also lashed out at Chief Minister Raghubar Das for not having full strength Cabinet after assuring power long back and for taking hold of 24 Departments.

“This has slowed the pace of development in the State and decision making process in the Government has gone for a toss. The CM is sitting on 24 Departments alone however has kept one Cabinet berth vacant. It means he does not even trust his own allies,” said PCC president and blamed it for not able to take its share from the Center for MGREGA, BRGF and Indira Awas.

The party also pulled the Government on deteriorating law and order situation in capital Ranchi and other parts of the State, for not announcing minimum support price for paddy, failing to buy paddy from farmers, missing assistance to farmers hit badly by inclement weather and unable to constitute all important Tribal Advisory Council (TAC).

Bhagat also put question mark over continuation of generic medicine stores, condition of Government hospitals, lowering health indices like high infant mortality rate, irregularities in allotment of Housing Board plots etc. “We all know that the Center is again bringing Ordinance on land Acquisition by sidelining provision of consent and social impact assessment kept by the previous Congress Government. As this is primarily a tribal dominant State, the Government should have opposed this which is not done.
