The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Wednesday evening announced the name of Shilpi Neha Tirkey as party candidate for Mandar by-election. The AICC announced the name of Tirkey in the evening. The AICC letter has been signed by Congress general secretary in charge of CEC, Mukul Wasnik.
Shilpi is the daughter of the party’s executive president Bandhu Tirkey, who lost his legislatorship from Mandar constituency on March 28 after he was convicted and sentenced by a CBI court in a case of possessing disproportionate assets. After he lost his legislatorship, the Mandar assembly seat became vacant.
The election is scheduled for June 23. The Congress candidate is expected to file nomination on June 2.
