Cong leaders welcome Balmuchu's replacement

The Congress leaders of the district have welcomed the decision of the party high command to appoint prominent tribal leader Sukhdeo Bhagat as the new Jharkhand Congress President. Bhagat, a former MlA, replaced Pradip Kumar Balmuchu, MP.

Senior Congress leader and State Secretary SRA Rizwi Chabban said that the party has taken a wise decision to hand over the reins of the State to Sukhdeo Bhagat. He is a senior and experienced leader and will work to regain the lost ground of the party in the State.

“We believe that party’s poor performance in Jharkhand over the years should be reviewed and actions need to be taken against those responsible for the defeat. We need to strengthen the organisation in the State and spread party’s vision in every nook and corner,” he noted.

Chabban further said that the Congress members must shed factional behaviour if they want to ensure progress of the State and the party in Jharkhand. He said that fighting as one disciplined team was critical to ensure electoral win in the State.

Meanwhile, another leader on the condition of anonymity noted “I welcomed the decision Balmuchu has done nothing for the party. During 15 years as MlA he has accumulated wealth fortunes just for personnel gains and nothing else. There were several party leaders who are against him and have come in support of the decision”.

He said that the party workers want a leader who can motivate and carry the rank and file of the party. The contribution of Balmuchu is nil and party workers are not at all happy with his way of work.

He went on to add that Congress fought in the last Assembly polls on 62 seats and could only win 14 seats and lost 48 seats. Even more surprisingly, only one seat was won out of the 14 seated Kolhan division.

Baldev Singh another senior leader also welcomed the decision and expressed confidence that the party will reach new heights under the leadership of Bhagat.

It may be recalled that peeved over the misdeeds of Balmuchu, a dissidents body from Kolhan Congress Karyakarta Jagran Manch was floated. Congress leaders from Kolhan K P Singh, S R A Rizwi Chabban Baldev Singh and Sanatan Majhi had met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to register their complains.
