Holding the Centre directly responsible for large number of children’s deaths in Gorakhpur, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Raipur and Rajasthan, National Spokesperson of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Ajoy Kumar termed government hospitals as registered slaughter houses and the said ‘malnutrition’ as pre-planned genocide by the present government. Talking to the media persons after meeting RJD Chief lalu Prasad at State Guest House in Ranchi, Kumar also questioned the logic behind such incidents happening only in BJP ruled states.
“The most important reason behind it is the insensibility of State governments towards children otherwise such incidents would not have happened only in BJP ruled States,” said Kumar. He further added that if according to the State Government’s claim that 100 per cent vaccination had been done to the children and there were all medical facilities available in hospitals, how come such a large number of children died of malnutrition in Jamshedpur.
“It means the data provided by the State Government itself is false. This is just a beginning as the figure of child death will go up,” said Kumar. Moreover, ‘Mamta Vahan’ being used to carry pregnant women to hospitals for delivery, were not functional anymore due to non payment, he added
Kumar suspected that the figure of child death might be lakhs as children have been dying in hospitals merely for Rs 50 in Government Hospitals in Ranchi, Gumla and other districts of the State.
“We are trying to gather the exact data in this regard through Right to Information which is likely to cross Yeman and Sudan of South Africa,” said the AICC Spokesperson.
“Presently, on an average Rs 1.20 is being spent per year on the girls up to the age of 18 years which is all time low and the Government has been shouting the slogan ‘Beti Padhao – Beti Bachao’ all around in the Country,” said Kumar. More than 50 per cent of cut has been done in the expenses of In Anganwadi Centres, he added.
