PNS

A high-level delegation of the Congress led by State unit chief Sukhdeo Bhagat called on Governor Syed Ahmed on Tuesday and demanded for a thorough probe into the orchestrated surrenders of youths by posing them as Naxals. The matter had come into light after 514 innocent youths in bulk laid down their arms before the police in 2011 allegedly for the sake of job to be provided under the surrender policy.

The delegation informed the Governor about sluggish pace of development in the probe ordered into entire matter after the lid was blown off by then IG MV Rao in his letter to the then DGP.

“Innocent tribal youths were lured and cheated for the sake of money and posed as naxals before the police. Involvement of powerful persons into the entire episode cannot be denied. In May, 2014 the then Chief Minister had ordered a CBI probe but there is no progress so far. We have requested for his intervention into this and the Governor has assured for that,” said Sukhdeo Bhagat after the meeting.

An FIR in this regard was also filed at lower Bazar PS by one Pamesh Prasad revealing the game behind the surrenders made. The IG had expressed doubt over legal status of 514 youths out of which 203 were kept at Old Jail campus under the protection of COBRA battalion of the CRPF. He had recommended for investigating their previous Naxal records. The delegation included Congress’ legislative body leader Alamgir Alam, MlA Badal Patralekh, general secretary Alok Dubey and other senior leaders.
