Both the Opposition parties, Congress and JMM, have picked holes in the gaga going around over ‘successful’ completion of two years in the office by the BJP ruled Government at the Centre. The Congress fielded its national spokesperson Rita Bahuguna Joshi who presented the factsheet while JMM’s executive president Hemant Soren branded the Government’s act self-congratulatory.
Joshi, while terming the two years’ stay not more than cheating, said that the party was on a spree to expose the Government all over the country on May 26 and 28. “Modi ji weaved a net of promises and had made tall claims that he would do wonders within 100 days of coming into power. Whereas, what we see in reality that all sectors be it farming, industry, business, employment or corruption are feeling let down. They have just renamed UPA’s policies and repackaged it to befool the people,” said she on Thursday in a Press conference.
The party added that farmers, poor and youths were the worst hit and claimed that just opposite what the Prime Minister had assured before coming into power, MSP of agriculture produces has shown just 6 per cent hike. “The Modi Government is insensitive to the plight of the downtrodden and farmers but gave 1.15 lakh crore of loan waivers to his corporate friends. Banks are turning bankrupt and persons like Vijay Mallya, lalit Modi have fled the country with their support,” said Joshi.
She also dug hole into the 7.7 per cent GDP growth claims and said that in reality it is not more than 5.5 per cent based on old calculating methods. Joshi went on claiming that schemes like ‘Make in India’, ‘Skill India’ etc are just hoax since over 14 Billion $ have been invested outside the country by local businessmen. The party also saw no progress in investment projects clearances.
“Manmohan Singh managed the economy far better than what is being done now despite the biggest ever depression. People have now realised that all claims and promises of Narendra Modi were ‘chunawi jumla’. If this continues in this fashion, the Congress party is sure to come back to power in 2019. The UPA driven out of power at the Center and other States just because of anti-incumbency as voters now a days want change and tend to give full majority to work,” she added.
A film depicting popular schemes launched by the Government as failures was also shown on the occasion. It hits sarcastically on the claims of black money, smart city, Swacch Bharat Abhiyan etc in which the characters are heard saying, “Abki bar-barbad ho gaye yaar”, understandably to mimic “Abki Bar- Modi Sarkar” slogan the BJP raised before 2014 elections.
JMM, on the other, termed the Modi Government’s stay so far worst ever since independence. “Apart from bhajan and yoga, they are doing nothing. It is just like patting on its own back through advertisements and tall claims whereas farmers are committing suicides, inflation is high and there is no job. It is a Government of businessmen who fund it,” said Hemant Soren.
The leader of Opposition at the same time also questioned the State Government for forming ‘Kamal Clubs’ and charged the public money would be spent on paying BJP cadres and workers.
