Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) on Saturday attacked Prime Minister, Narendra Modi led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government for bringing three anti-farmers' laws -Farmer Production Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act 2020, Farmer Empowerment and Protection Price Assurance Agricultural Services Act 2020 and Essential Commodity Amendment Act 2020.

The party held a 'Kisan Sammelan' under the series of ongoing agitation against laws. The Congress is continuously opposing the new agricultural laws from national level to State level and the party will start a signature campaign against the laws which will be handed over to the President of India.

Hitting hard on the Central Government, JPCC Chief, Rameshwar Oraon said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Government attacked the 62 crore farmers by passing three black laws in the parliament to provide benefit to thier capitalist friends'.  "In both the tenures of the Modi Government, the agriculture sector, which is the backbone of Indian economy, has gone into a deep crisis. Due to not getting the minimum support price on time, the debt burden on the farmers increased and moves like demonetisation shook the cash-based agricultural economy," he added.

"This attempt of the Modi Government is an attack on the green revolution of the Country. MSP will be snatched from farmers. They will be forced to become slaves of the capitalists through contract farming. The farmer will become a labourer on his own farm. Being a vigilant political opposition, we will not allow this injustice.

The Congress party will hand over the memorandum containing lakhs of signatures to the Central leadership through a signature campaign from across the State after the Kisan Sammelan which will be handed over to the President of India," said oraon.

Speaking on the occasion Agriculture Minister, Badal said that the party is related with the pain and suffering of farmers so that it has started waiver of loans in the State where it is in power. "In Jharkhand also it has started the programme but due COVID-19 it has been delayed. The farmer is not our vote bank. We consider farmers as family. I am the son of a farmer myself. We are trying to make aware that the country has given them a mandate. This does not mean forcibly attacking constitutional powers. We will not let farmers be labourers," he added.

Addressing the gathering Health Minister, Banna Gupta said that described the laws as anti-farmer and said, the farmers are afraid and it is a well-planned conspiracy to persecute them at present.

Almost all party officials addressed the conference.
