Jharkhand DGP has directed the State police to review the condition of martyrs’ family every three months with a follow up on regular basis.
Kumar was talking to the media persons during Shaheed Samman Samaroh at JAP- I ground in Ranchi on Monday. Kumar met each member of martyrs’ family individually, who had gathered in Ranchi where they were gifted a shawl and commendation letter by the DGP.
“We have prepared a separate bio-data of families of all those policemen who died during the Naxal attacks after the state came into being in the year 2000, and a track record will be kept with regular follow-ups every three months,” said the DGP.
Proper care will be taken that not a single family have to face any problem in the day to day life and the IGs, DIGs and SPs will follow up on regular basis, he added.
Earlier, the DGP as well as other top police officials paid homage to all the martyrs who lost their life in the last 13 years during Naxal incidents. It was a tough moment for the family members present there to control their grief.
Some of them even could not control their tears while the names of their dear ones were called on to felicitate them.
“It’s a good feeling…..morale of the family has definitely been boosted which gives a feeling that there is someone who still remembers those brave hearts who lost their lives for the country,” said Poonam Kashyap wife of a martyr.
Wife of slain Pakur Superintendent of Police (SP) Amarjeet Balihar, who lost his life along with four other policemen in an ambush by Maoists in the Kathikund forest area in Dumka district in July this year, also lauded the initiative to honour the families of martyrs who lost their lives while serving the Country.
“This is a commendable step taken by the Jharkhand Police that the families who are lost in the day to day chores are being honored by the department but it should also be taken care that such incidents should not get repeated again and again so that no more lives are lost,” said Balihar’s wife Sumanlata Balihar.
A musical night was also organized at Football stadium at Morhabadi Ranchi to make the day memorable for the martyrs where several celebrities like Shaan, Divya Datta, Raju Srivastav and veteran Actor Jitendra had come to make the evening memorable for the martyr’s family.
